Haley Adams

Rogue athlete Haley Adams has been described as “the future of CrossFit,” but even that praise doesn’t account for everything she’s already accomplished as a 20 year-old. As far back as 2016, the North Carolina native was on the national stage, competing in the Teen Division of the CrossFit Games and reaching the first of three straight podiums in her age group, including a dominant first place finish as the “Fittest Teen on Earth” in 2018.

In 2019, Adams moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, for two important reasons: to study biology at Tennessee Tech, and to train with CrossFit legend Rich Froning and the team at CrossFit Mayhem. The benefits were easy to see at the 2019 Games in Wisconsin, as Haley finished 6th overall in her debut as an adult individual competitor, earning Rookie of the Year honors. Despite the added pressure of going head to head with the world’s best at just 18 years of age, she finished in the Top 10 in all but two events that weekend, looking like a seasoned veteran.

While 2020 slowed every athlete’s momentum, Haley still persevered and continued to improve. A 3rd place finish at Strength in Depth helped her qualify for the CrossFit Games once again, and she rallied to finish third in the online portion of the Games, making her one of just five women invited to the Finals at the Ranch in Aromas, CA. Unfortunately, an illness slowed her up on Day 2, and she narrowly missed a podium spot by a handful points at the end of Day 3. “I truly just want to thank everyone for all of the love,” Haley told her fans on social media afterwards. “I’ve never felt so much support from all over the world and it makes me just want to keep working harder.”

An even more motivated Haley Adams could be a terrifying thought for her competition in the years ahead.
