The 15KG Rogue C-70S Bar is arguably the most unique and versatile barbell we’ve ever built, with a robust design that makes it both a compact version of our flagship 20KG Ohio Bar and a uniquely rackable version of our original C-70 short bar.
The 15KG Rogue C-70S Bar is arguably the most unique and versatile barbell we’ve ever built, with a robust design that makes it both a compact version of our flagship 20KG Ohio Bar and a uniquely rackable version of our original C-70 short bar.
Available here with a Black Cerakote shaft finish and bright zinc sleeves, the C-70S can benefit anyone training in tight quarters, be it a small garage gym or busy training facility. The 72” shaft offers nearly 15” of space-saving efficiency compared to a full-length bar, opening up lanes for more athletes to train in the same space at the same time. In cramped home gyms, it also enables full Olympic lifting movements—including proper hand placement on the snatch grip—with more room to spare and easier storage between workouts.
Like the Ohio Bar, the American-made C-70S features dual knurl marks (with our signature Ohio knurl), quality composite bushings, and a 28.5mm diameter, 190,000 PSI steel shaft. Despite the shorter shaft length, the sleeves are also still spaced 52” apart—the same as a full-length barbell—allowing athletes to rack the bar on a standard rack and perform movements that haven’t traditionally been practical with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats.
To ensure long-term performance, each C-70S shaft is treated with our exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process, giving it superior fatigue resistance. Additionally, due to the shorter lever arm of the shorter sleeves, there is decreased stress on the shaft with each drop as compared to a bar with standard length sleeves. With these combined elements, the C-70S is our first barbell to achieve an F-Scale rating of F-16R in durability testing (learn more about the F-Scale here). This means that it should last even longer than standard-length bars in high-volume gyms.

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.
As perhaps the biggest feature of its design, the C-70S can be racked conveniently on most standard power racks / squat stands, dramatically improving its functional benefits over most standard short bars. Additionally, while the sleeves are shorter on this model, the 52” of spacing between them is the same as a full-length barbell, allowing athletes to perform movements that haven’t traditionally been practical with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats. It should be noted that the 8.875” of loadable sleeve length is roughly half that of the Ohio Bar (16.4”) and slightly less than the original non-rackable C-70 Bar (12”). There is no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish.
The “S” in the bar’s name literally stands for “Snatch,” and refers to its origins at the 2014 CrossFit Games, when narrow competition lanes in the snatch event required a new type of short bar design. The standard width between sleeves gave the feel of a normal barbell, but the shorter sleeves allowed for athletes to work in much closer proximity to each other while also maximizing the number of athletes per heat. The C-70S would ultimately be used at each subsequent CrossFit Games for six years running.
The advantages of a short bar go well beyond competition lanes. In large gyms, the design of the C-70S allows more athletes to train simultaneously, and in a cramped garage gym, the shorter shaft (72” vs the 86.75” of a full-length Ohio Bar) enables full Olympic lifting movements—including proper hand placement on the snatch grip—with more room to spare and easier storage between workouts.
Like the full-length Ohio Bar, the C-70S is manufactured in the USA and equipped with dual knurl marks, quality composite bushings, and a 28.5mm, 190,000 PSI tensile strength steel shaft. Each shaft is treated with our exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process for superior fatigue resistance. With its short sleeves, there is also significantly less stress put on the shaft on each drop. As a result, the C-70s scores a rating of F-16R in F-Scale durability testing, the highest mark of any barbell we’ve tested.
All of our Rogue C-70S Bars feature a Black Cerakote shaft finish. Widely used by firearm manufacturers for its durability in thin applications, this ceramic-based coating can offer superior abrasion, wear, and corrosion resistance over time—up to 100x that of traditional black zinc.
