Cerakote Strength + Custom Colors

This version of the Ohio Bar is distinct for its use of an advanced ceramic-based coating, originally established in the gun industry for its durability in thin applications. This unique finish can deliver superb abrasion/wear/corrosion resistance over time—100X that of standard black zinc—and it’s available to order in a range of exclusive colors, with the Rogue logo branded on the center of the shaft. See the menu for current color combination options.

190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell.

Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish.

Machining & Assembly

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio, with painstaking attention to detail. The knurling has been carefully refined over the years, as well, for a firm but non-abrasive grip (there is no center knurl). We assemble the Ohio Bar with a snap ring design and quality composite bushings, which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft, producing normal “whip” during Oly weightlifting but enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting.

F Scale™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

A solid investment on a great all-round bar
About six months ago, I bought a low-end Olympic Set that came with 110 lbs. of cast-iron plates and a shoddy 3-piece bar that required assembly with an allen wrench. Not surprisingly, the bar lasted about five weeks of three days a week use before it started falling apart. This was a good thing though, because it made me want to invest in a better quality bar. That being said, my Rogue bar is the first high end barbell that I've bought, so I did a lot of research before committing to the Black Cerakote Ohio Bar with chrome sleeves model. I watched a lot of YouTube videos, read Reddit discussions on the best bars and knurling, read articles from pro reviewers, and scrolled through countless customer reviews on various fitness equipment websites to compare the best bar for value. In the end, I knew I wanted to go with Rogue and I narrowed it down to either a stainless steel version of the Ohio Bar, an Ohio Power Bar, a Matt Chan Bar, or the bar I ended up buying. In the end, I knew I wanted a good quality bar that I could reasonably do everything with; from Olympic lifts, power lifts, Crossfit workouts, to just plain old bro lifts. The Ohio Bar met all of those needs. When I made that choice it came down to the fact that I wanted the bar to say Rogue on it, cause I think it looks cool. I was still torn between the Matt Chan bar and this one, because I did like the center knurling, but I was uncomfortable with the idea that the outside knurling is a bit further out from the center to avoid shin scrapes on deadlifts. Knowing what I know now, I think the Chan bar would've been just fine, but I didn't want to drop an extra $100 to find out. I was also torn between the Navy/Black option and the Black/Chrome option, but I chose the chrome sleeve option, because I read and saw on the video reviews that the iron plates scratch up the Cerakote sleeves and I didn't want to do that to my first bar. I've had the bar for about two months now and I use it three to four times a week. For starters, it's an aesthetically beautiful bar! It's the center piece of my home gym. I get a lot of enjoyment using it and I like showing it off to my friends when they come over. Performance wise, it's solid, well balanced, and has great spin on the sleeves. The knurling is grippy, but not rough on the hands at all. If you're into aggressive knurling, this is not the bar you are looking for. In fact, if I had to describe the knurling I'd say it's standard, but it does the job. It's above passive, but not sharp at all. You could easily do a long and repetitive workout that involves a lot of cleans and not worry about your hands getting torn up by it, so it's good if you're looking for that. The most important thing is that it makes me excited to wake up on a cold, rainy Tuesday morning at 0430 and go lift weights for an hour before starting the rest of my day. To me, that is what makes it such a great investment. TL:DR: If you're looking to purchase only one bar for your home gym, this is an excellent option that can meet all of your lifting needs without over specializing in any one thing. The Cerakote Ohio Bar is a perfect all-around bar.

Best in class
For any prospective buyer unfamiliar with cerakote finish, be aware it will take some bite out of the knurl due to the small layer of the coating. If that's fine with you, you can enjoy a heavily corrosion-resistant and quality piece of equipment. Love my Rogue barbells.

Great overall bar
Have been toying with the idea of getting a rogue bar for ages, after reading other reviews and seeing the abuse they take. Finally had the funds to pull the trigger and I’m glad I did. The cerakote coating is superb, the colour is awesome (red) and the knurl is just right. Aggressive to keep the bar in place on your grip but not too aggressive that it tears your hands to shreds. If performing the Olympic lifts or lifts where your hand moves on the bar, then yes you get some tearing over time. The whip of the bar and spin of the collars it great, and the bar gives a feeling of confidence when using it. Perfect protection in the garage environment with the cerakote coating, hopefully it’ll outlast me. Fantastic product.

Awesome bar!
I did a ton of research on bars before deciding on this one and I couldn’t be happier! The bearings are so smooth and helps create really nice pathing and also doesn’t have crazy knurling so it doesn’t destroy your hands. Very very pleased with this bar!
