Manufactured in the U.S. from locally sourced materials, the shock-absorbent LapMat™ is specifically designed to protect wheelchair athletes from the impact of a barbell dropped onto the lap/legs during a workout.
For years, many adaptive athletes have had to rely on makeshift protection—abdominal pads, cushions, floor matting, etc.—to address this potentially serious safety issue. With the LapMat™, the Illinois-based company Equip Products worked directly with many of these athletes to design a new type of contoured padding that’s honed to their needs, with two distinct sizes to choose from. Both versions are available here in black with exclusive Rogue branding.
Small LapMat™: Width (14.5” at base, 8.4” at far end), Length (9” at center, 10.75” at longest extension)
Large LapMat™: Width (16” at base, 10” at far end), Length (11.75” at center, 14” at longest extension)

The top portion of the LapMat™ features a custom foam construction specialized to absorb shock, while the bottom foam section offers comfortable coverage and protection for the legs. A rigid piece between the two foam cushions helps to diffuse the weight across a larger cross-section of the athletes lap, and a set of straps are specifically made to alleviate abrasions and maintain the integrity of the skin.
Importantly, the LapMat™ is designed to effectively do its job without getting in the way of the workout itself. Its unique shape creates a sturdy and compact, low-rise platform without the bulkiness of alternative methods.
As an added feature, users can turn the LapMat™ over and use the bounce of the bottom foam for wall ball workouts.
