The AB-2 added density foam to its original Abmat counterpart to improve posterior and anterior flexion and contraction. The lumbar region has more support, causing greater flexion while in supine position.

Great Mat - Go Firm
To complement the abmat in my local CrossFit gym I bought this one for home workouts. I am glad I went for the firm option as it provides better support that th softer ones at my Box. This is especially the case when doing abs workouts on the side and in reverse. Very happy with the purchase though expect to wait due to Rogue EU's super slow delivery times.
